Level 4

WEST OF ENGLAND WINE SCHOOL

WSET Level 4,  Diploma in Wines and Spirits

The Diploma is a specialist qualification where detailed knowledge is combined with commercial factors and a thorough system for the professional evaluation of wines and spirits.

The Level 4 Diploma is designed to prepare people for responsible jobs within the wine and spirits business. The course will not only develop product knowledge to a specialist level, but will also enable you to acquire skills, eg. in research and report writing, that will continue to be of use beyond the course. For those not in the trade but simply fascinated by wines and spirits it is a chance to acquire knowledge at a deeper level.

What is involved in the course

The course consists of 16 days teaching (and a couple more for exams)

You can start in either January or September each year. You can take the units at your own pace.

Most students try to complete the course in 12 months, but it is possible to spread it over a longer period to suit you.

Lectures are from 9.am, until 5 pm. and our lecturers include Masters of Wine, Wine Makers, importers and specialist retailers or experts in their field, please refer to meet the lecturers.

The fee includes all course materials and samples. One of our lecture days is a vineyard visit.

Students are registered initially for three years which allows flexibility in matching periods of study with other work-related commitments. It is possible to extend the registration period if you need more time.

The diploma is divided into 6 units all of which must be passed before the Diploma is awarded.

If you have moved into the area, we are often able to enrol you for whatever units you still have to take.
